Mac Miller is one of the most successful rappers of the internet age. The 23 year old Pittsburgh native was one of the first, along with Wiz & Curren$y to have a cult following all from the internet. Since his success hit, Mac has been living life and releasing music randomly for his eager fans. With the release of a new album, it’s protocol that an artist does a tour to touch the fans and press. However it seems due to exhaustion, the GO:OD rapper has to cancel a couple days on his tour. Luckily it’s not in the states. Unfortunately, his international fans will be missing out, mostly New Zealand and Australia. Mac took to twitter, of course, to inform his fans.
Without a doubt, Young Thug is one of the most hardworking artists out at the moment. The Atlanta rapper blew to fame with his single “Stoner” & followed up with “Danny Glover” which was remixed by Nicki Minaj. Although his antics tend to make others question him, Thugger is really on top of his game. The 24 year old rapper has dropped numerous projects and random singles. Probably more than the average artist who popped a year prior. After announcing the MigoThuggin mixtape, which releases Christmas Day, Thug’s close friend Be El Be took to twitter to let the fans know there’s more in store; including another Rich Gang album.
With the decline in album sales, it’s amazing how many still pay attention to album sales. Nowadays, if an artist reaches 100k that’s look at as good. Compared to in the 90’s when albums were flying off the shelf at 500k the first week. Times have really changed. This time around, its time for Virginia’s popular living legends to release new bodies of work to the world.
Chris Brown has released his 7th studio album, Royalty, which is named after his beautiful daughter. The album in my opinion is definitely worth the $10 (imo) as it shows Chris’ diversity with his musical ability. Meanwhile former Clipse member & Re-Up Gang frontman, Pusha T pops back up to drop off the prequel to his King Push album which is stated to drop in April (via Pusha on The Breakfast Club). Pusha T’s Darkest Before Dawn: The Prelude is now available & is definitely what hip-hop needed. Being it’s executive produced by P Diddy, how could you not expect greatness?
Darkest Before Dawn: 38k-43k
Kendrick Lamar took the world by storm after he dropped his “debut” album. The TDE camp are very secretive when it comes to their artist. So when need comes out to the public it must be big. Thanks to my good friends over at Rap Wave, the news has been shared that the Compton superstars next album, United States Of A.L.A.R.M. is due September of this year. Can’t wait to see how the campaign for this project is set up. Also, FREE AB-SOUL’S MUSIC TOP DAWG. #TheSuiteLife
UPDATE: WELP Its seems this was a fake story being passed around. Hopefully we do get the real info on Kendrick’s next LP soon..
The YMCMB star definitely knows how to remain relevant in the music industry. Saturday, May 3rd, 2014 was the night of boxer, Floyd Mayweather’s fight against Marcos Maidana. Mayweather’s entourage for the night included special guests: Justin Bieber and Lil Wayne. After a successful win, you would think The Money Team would want to avoid conflict and go celebrate in Vegas. Most likely they did, but not before running into drama with Maidana’s camp. According to TMZ, drama erupted in the MGM Grand after Floyd’s victory once a water bottle hit Lil Wayne on the SHOULDER. Its not clear if the bottle was actually from somebody in Maidana’s camp, but the short rap star took no time pointing the finger. Let’s be realistic for a second. Does anybody really think Wayne can take on anybody in either of these boxers circles…? I don’t think so. Check the video (via TMZ) and see the Young Money CEO get rowdy. #TheSuiteLife
Rihanna has finally took her talents to another roster. She didn’t move move to far though. The Bajan starlet decided to move from the powerhouse known as Def Jam and head to Jay Z’s Roc Nation. If you’ve been paying attention, Rihanna has been under Roc Nation management for the past 4 years along with acts such as: Kanye West, DJ Mustard & Beyonce. After a successful 7 album run with Def Jam Records, Rihanna has proved her fanbase & music will not “The Roc” down. In 2005, head honcho at Roc Nation, Jay Z signed Rihanna to Def Jam Records and has remained a mentor in her career 9 years later. No surprise to see her make this move. #TheSuiteLife
Fabolous is one of the few emcees from New York City who has remained a relevant figure in hip-hop. I’ve been a loyal Fab fan since I was about 12 years old and he was hanging out in Breevort Projects still. However, I’m not gonna sit here and act like every thing after “Breathe” has been fire (cause that’s not the case). The Brooklyn emcee has been up and down with hits since his “From Nothing To Something” album. Even with the hype of TiNC 2 & 3, along with The Soul Tape 1 & 2 and a couple radio singles, Fab has been swinging for a miss in my opinion. As we wait for “Loso’s Way 2” Fab brings us “The Soul Tape 3” set to drop on Christmas, December 25th, 2013. I’m not really excited for another mixtape, instead I’m waiting for another album not filled with mediocre punchlines and a lazy flow. But its something I’ve grown accustomed. My opinion. #TheSuiteLife
DJ Mustard became one of the hottest producers in the industry after blessing acts such as Tyga & 2 Chainz with beats for their chart-topping singles over the past 12 months. It’s been a great year for the DJ turned producer from Los Angeles, California. Mustard, who is known to be YG’s partner-in-crime, has been letting the world know of his compilation mixtape that he’s been putting together for the past 6-8 months. Originally, it was supposed to be titled “Mustard On The Beat Hoe” (his signature tag). But, it’s pretty obvious now, that the Pu$haz Ink/RocNation producer in a different mindframe and tax bracket than he was 8 months ago. (Hence the title change to “Ketchup”) The mixtape is set to release on June 3rd via Datpiff & HotNewHipHop. Features have been kept on the hush, but obvious features include: YG, Joe Moses, Tyga & Many More. Mustard proves you can teach yourself to be more than expected. Self-taught everything. This is a project that I’m highly anxious for. I definitely told Mustard I’m waiting for this when I met him at YG’s show in Brooklyn, NY. Pu$haz Ink..
Well here we are, less than a week later & I’m writing another story about Chris Brown. Chris Brown and Kanye are the kings of controversy. Well let’s get straight to the point. THIS IS ALL RUMOR, NOBODY KNOWS THE REAL STORY. Chris Brown was in the club last night and guess who else was in the club last night, Drizzy Drake. Drake approached Chris with his security. However, Chris Brown keeps tight security with him at all times. So Chris’ security blocked Drake from approaching, and being he couldn’t reach Chris, he threw the bottle in his hand at Chris. Now when a bottle hits ya face, you usually receive a scar or slash. Instead Chris Brown instagram’d a picture of a chunk of his chin missing. Doesn’t add up to a bottle hitting your face. The industry is full of so many stunts. Its all politics. So many think this is focused around Rihanna. All of these artists date/f–k some of the baddest women in the world. Majority of the vixens in the music industry have been f–ked by the same artists. The media is hyping this and the fans are feeding right into it. The labels plotted this perfectly: make it focus around Rihanna, love triangle.
Anywho, shoutout to Meek for the tweegram. You see them likes?! The music industry is all messed up. As an artist, I pray it gets better. As a fan of hip-hop, I hope all the gimmicks/stunts stop. It’s not even entertaining. Only the females and “mainstream” listeners find all these lil stunts intriguing. Can we just go back to 1995-2004. Things were all good. Some day hopefully. Pray for the Urban Music Industry. CBE/OVOXO…
Usually I write articles explaining the history behind things, but this time I’m gonna keep it brief, being I have added a video. Summer Jam recently happened in New York City. This is one of the biggest venues for Hot 97FM. Nicki Minaj was known as the face of the show, headlining and all. Rosenberg has been on Nicki’s a$$ for the past couple months, pointing out the obvious that Nicki is no longer hip-hop, but more pop. Long story short, Rosenberg continues stating the obvious backstage, Wayne & Nicki pull the plug on her performing, then Flex comes talking crap as usual. Who do you think is right…? YMCMB !
